BYRNESS (Northumberland) - Church window showing Navvies
A window in the church depicts the Navvies who built the nearby Catcleugh Reservoir.
It commemorates the Men, Women and Children who died during its construction. It
has been claimed that it is the only church window depicting the working classes.
This is probably unlikely, but it is certainly an unusual feature. However the church
claim that it is the only church window in England showing a Narrow Gauge Railway.
The church is near to the main road. At the time of our last visit the key to the
church could be obtained from the nearby garage and cafe.
