ROTHLEY (Northumberland) - Fortifications

Information

Codgers Fort, was to have been a 5 Gun Battery and a Munitions Store Tower during Jacobite rebellion, but the war was over before construction was completed.  Nearby Rothley Castle is a sham castle, built as a ruin.  It was a picnic site for Wallington Hall. More interesting to have a picnic beside a ruined castle than on open moorland.
